ES4 FAQ
FAQ: EntraSYSTEM4 - General Information
What is the difference between Basic mode and Cloud mode?
In Basic mode, you can program one controller with a connected code keyboard through that same code keyboard (or manage it through the app – with wifi). The controller does not require an internet connection. Basic mode is suitable for installations where there are only a few users and a maximum of two gates/doors. Adjusting codes is not often done, so management is optional rather than required. To manage via the app, you must be within wifi range of the controller.
In Cloud mode, you can install multiple controllers with and without a code keyboard. The controllers require an Internet connection. Cloud mode is suitable for installations where there are multiple users and multiple doors. Where there is a need for timetables, automatic switching user groups. Adjusting user rights is done regularly and easy management is an essential part of the installation.
Is the ES4 compatible with other Entrya products?
The EntraSYSYTEM4 product line is not compatible with other Entrya products.
What is an ES4 controller?
The ES4 controller is the heart of any setup.
A smart piece of hardware – 100% developed and produced in Belgium – that allows you to achieve small, simple installations (Basic mode) or larger more complex installations (Cloud mode).
You can group controllers into single or multiple installations. You can manage access with or without a keypad and have the flexibility to securely access any application up to 500 users with the same controller.
The device functions without internet, as well as over wifi, LTE-M / 4G and Ethernet (RJ45). So it can also be easily installed in locations that are mobile (e.g., yard chains, events).

FAQ: EntraSYSTEM4 Cloud Subscriptions
Where can I find my invoices?
In the ES4 web portal, you can download invoices for both current and expired subscriptions.
Sign in to the ES4 web portal.
Your invoices: click your account in the top-right corner and then select My subscriptions.
Invoices for a site: open the site and click Subscription at the bottom left of the menu.
Can I switch to another subscription?
Yes. If your installation grows or changes, you can choose a different subscription at any time.
Does your current subscription no longer meet your needs? You can upgrade to a higher subscription. The upgrade takes effect immediately. For the remaining term of the current subscription, only the price difference is charged on a pro rata basis.
Do you need fewer features? You can switch to a lower subscription or the free Free plan. A downgrade takes effect when the current subscription expires. No refund is provided for the remaining subscription period.
Is ES4 Cloud mode subject to a fee?
This depends on the size and configuration of the site.
For simple installations, the Free plan is available free of charge. It allows you to manage an ES4 Cloud site with one controller, a maximum of two doors, five users and one schedule. The number of sites you can manage with the Free plan is unlimited.
For larger or more extensive installations, a Lite or Pro subscription is required. Each subscription is linked to one site. If you have several large or extensive sites, a separate subscription is required for each site.
View the subscription overview or ask your installer for advice on choosing the subscription that best suits your installation.
Why do I have to pay for additional functionality?
The purchase price of the ES4 hardware covers the devices only and does not include the costs of developing and maintaining, among other things, the app, web portal, server infrastructure, security and software updates.
You only pay a subscription when you use the extended Cloud functionality.
For simple installations, the Free plan is available free of charge. It allows you to manage ES4 Cloud sites with one controller, a maximum of two doors, five users and one schedule. The number of sites you can manage with the Free plan is unlimited.

Is a subscription renewed automatically?
No. Paid subscriptions (Lite and Pro) are not renewed automatically.
You will receive reminder emails before the subscription expires:
- 30 days before the end of the subscription
- 7 days before the end of the subscription
- on the subscription expiry date.
After the subscription expires, a 14-day grace period starts automatically, during which all functionality remains available.
You can renew a subscription at any time. You do not have to wait for the reminder email.
Can the free Pro trial be used for multiple sites?
No. The free Pro trial can only be activated once for one site. It is not possible to transfer the trial to another site later.
How does the free Pro trial work?
When you start using ES4 Cloud for the first time and create an account, you can try the features of the Pro subscription free of charge for 30 days. This is an easy way to discover all the possibilities of ES4 Cloud.
The Pro trial can be activated once for one site. You can activate it when creating the site or later, when the Free plan no longer meets your needs.
At the end of the trial, you choose the subscription that suits you best: Free, Lite or Pro. You will automatically receive reminder emails when the trial is about to end: 7 days before the end date and again on the day the trial ends.
If you take no action, the site is automatically switched back to the free Free plan. The complete configuration is retained and no data is deleted.
Parts of the site configuration that are not available under the Free plan can no longer be used. If the site configuration does not fit within the Free plan limits, the configuration can no longer be synchronised with the devices.
You can activate a suitable subscription or adjust the site so that its configuration fits within the Free plan limits.
Can I use an ES4 controller without internet (Cloud)?
This is only possible in Basic mode. The controller is then not connected to the internet, so remote access and remote management are not available.
Access can only be granted using PIN codes via the keypad. There are two ways to manage the codes:
- Via the keypad: ideal when you only use a few codes that rarely change.
- Via the app: manage codes with your smartphone while close to the controller. This option is particularly suitable when you manage many codes or need to change codes regularly.
Can I use an ES4 controller without a subscription?
Yes. There are two ways to do this: use the free Free plan in Cloud mode or set the controller to Basic mode.
Cloud mode with Free plan:
For simple installations, the Free plan is available free of charge. It allows you to manage ES4 Cloud sites with one controller, a maximum of two doors, five users and one schedule. The number of sites you can manage with the Free plan is unlimited.

Can an installer create a site with a subscription for a customer?
Yes. The installer can transfer it to the customer afterwards.
This can be useful when the customer does not yet have an ES4 account and the installer wants to configure the system before delivery. This makes installation at the customer’s premises easier.
The selected plan (Free, Lite or Pro) is automatically transferred to the customer together with the site. With the Free plan, no further action is required. If a Lite or Pro subscription is needed, the installer can purchase it in advance. Because the subscription is linked to the site, it is automatically transferred to the customer when the site is transferred. In that case, the invoice and payment are the responsibility of the installer, who can invoice them to the customer together with the devices.
Do I need a subscription, or is the Free plan sufficient?
The free Free plan is suitable for simple ES4 Cloud installations with one controller, a maximum of two doors, five users and one schedule.
For more extensive installations, you need a Lite or Pro subscription.
Click here for an overview of the subscriptions or ask your installer for advice.
Can I purchase a subscription through the App Store or Google Play Store?
No. There are several reasons for this.
More control over subscriptions:
Because the subscription is purchased in the ES4 web portal, it is linked to the site or company rather than to an individual person’s Apple ID or Google account. This keeps the subscription easy to manage, even when an employee leaves the company.
Lower price:
For purchases made through the App Store or Google Play Store, Apple or Google charges a commission on the subscription price. To avoid this additional cost and keep our subscription prices as low as possible, subscriptions are purchased and managed directly through the ES4 web portal.
Where can I take out a subscription?

Sign in to the ES4 web portal, open the relevant site and select Subscription at the bottom left.

What happens if I cancel my subscription or switch to a lower plan?
